Hello! I’m Billy Cooney. I’m an urban planner by training and current freelance writer. I write mostly about transportation and land use policy, as well as the politics involved in community planning.

Here at flâneurbanist I’ll be sharing my thoughts on books I’m reading. The goal with this blog is to go a bit deeper than current topics in planning and spend some time thinking about the history and theory of cities and modern urban life.

My hope is that by engaging in less commonly read but no less important texts on urbanism I can offer depth to our understanding of city life.
